Drilling for Water February 2009
The quest for water for the new well began the end of the week of February 9th. They finally hit a good vein of water a week later. I'm not sure how far they had to drill down, I suspect it was 250' or so.
Drilling for water is a very messy job! In places, the mud was 2" thick or more and the guys, who are not pictured, were covered in mud!
They were also nice enough to push over an old barn that was falling down and they burnt it up too! I was happy to see they had also burned it. Of course, it was quite cold out, so they probably were happy to have a bonfire in the area!

The following are pictures of the drilling about 3/4 through the job and the trenches to get the water to the holding tank and then to the house.
Gravel from a huge rock (12' around I think it was)
These are the drill bits! They're huge!

Trenches to the shed and from the shed to the house

That's it! It's all covered over now and the water is running good and strong. No more wondering if I will be out of water after hot and dry days, no more worrying about the unit freezing up in the Winter!! It's all good!! There is also a connection at the drilling point so the water can be re-routed in the event a new house is built.
