When James came out from ND, the family went to St. Johns, OR, then Dilley,OR., then to North Plains & about 1917 Pendelton, OR., & in 1918 into Pasco, WA. James & his brother John A were both in the Portland area in the early 1900s. I understand that John had a glass eye.

GEORGE B SIMPSON DIES SUDDENLY
Wimbledon, Barnes County, ND Newspaper Volume 18, No 47
Was kicked by cow which resulted in his death — was one of the Early Settlers.
Last Thursday morning while George B Simpson was handling some cattle on of the cow's kicked him on the leg which broke it. The accident was not considered serious, but complications developed which rendered him unconscious sometime that night. He was taken to Valley City Friday, attended by his sister Isabel and placed in the Riverside hospital.
Everything possible was done for him, but in spite of all that medical skill could do he died at 2 o'clock Sunday morning, leaving *can't read it* daughter to mourn his departure.
George B Simpson was born in Guelph, Canada, August 20, 1867. In 1885 his parents settled in the northern part of Edna Township, Barnes County, with their family. After farming for himself a few years near his parents' home he was employed by the Rogers Lumber Company and placed in charge of their Leal yard.
January 1st 1898 he married Mrs. Cassie Butler. Soon after they moved onto a farm in Uxbridge township where they have since resided.
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock a short service was held at the farm home and at 2:30 the main service was held in the Leal Methodist church where the Pastor Rev Elmer Duden preached the funeral sermon.
The Masonic Lodge of which he was a prominent member, had charge of the services and conducted a very impressive ceremony at the grave.
The casket and pulpit at the church was buried in oceans of flowers - the most prominent of which were two or three beautiful Masonic emblems made up of flowers, besides numerous bouquets and wreathes.
The deceased is survived by his wife and daughter; his mother; three brothers, James in North Plains, Oregon; John in St. Johns, Oregon and Will of Wimbledon and three sisters.
Margaret Borden of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Mary McGregor of Fargo and Isabel of Wimbledon. The three living in this state were present at the funeral. Relatives of Mrs. Simpson from a distance present at the funeral were her son, George Butler from Oregon, Mrs. Keys and husband of Louverne, ND, Mrs Frances Lemly and husband of Page, Robert Walks of Courtenay and Mrs. Stearns of Rogers.
The sudden departure of our beloved brother and truly recognized leader has cast a large community into mourning. Mr Simpson came to the state years ago when every hardship of the early pioneer lite was felt by all. He has helped to build up the state and community as much as it is possible for one man to do. He was a recognized leader in the church and lodge societies to which he belonged and was also the "father" you might say of the Uxbridge Consolodated school. The members of the various fraternal societies to which he belonged will cherish fund collections of brotherhood.
As we stood beside his grave Tuesday afternoon, in fancy we could see him - not in death's cold shroud of sorrow and despair, but smiling upon us from the sunset halo that marks God's farewell to the day - smiling with all the well remembered graced of his manhood, love and devotion, and saying to us:
"The sunset speaks but feebly of the glories of another day. All is well."
He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; to his sisters a tender brother, to his friends the should of fellowship. But the greatest of all was that he was a man. And as a man it is that those who know him best most loved to contemplate him. He believed that the man who scatters flowers in the pathway of his fellowmen; who lets into dark ;places of life the sunshine of human sympathy and happiness, is following in the footsteps of his Master.
His devotion to his wife and family and his kindness to everybody will long linger as a fragrant memory in the home which his presence brightened and which death darkened. Tho he has gone his record has been made and will remain as a lasting treasure to those who knew him.
Every farmer in the vicinity will prize the practical advise given by precept and example given by this pioneer in advanced farming methods. But who will venture to forecast the extent of the influence which has already been manifested, and will emanate from that institution which is largely a product of his energies, and into which he has placed his best thought and judgement - the Consolodated county school of Uxbridge Township. Yet we would fall far short in our estimate of the man, should we fail to recognize the true source of his ability his Christian character.
Though busily engaged with his numerous activities his religious life found expression in the organization and maintainance of a thriving Sunday school until his scholars became leaders of the school. Nor did he consider himself exempt from the activities of the Leal church and Sunday school, but regarded these services as an indispensible privilege.
Truly "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
The sympathy of the whole community is extended to the family of a thoughtful and kind husband and loving and wise father.
