Mary Rose, the rose plant, is out doing herself!
The Widow's Tears are also.
May 3, 2020
Mary Rose is looking very pretty now and the Widows Tears are bursting forth with flowers.
Mary's Place, 2019
August 27, 2019
I went over to Mom's today. We ran a couple errands, had lunch and came back to her place.
We got this flower arrangement finished and it looks very nice in the living room. Goes well with the couch and her chair. And, outside to the left of the front door, Mom had put some more flowers over there, so I call that the Spring/Summer side!
The Portulaca is still looking good in front of the door. And to the right of the door Autumn is definitely in bloom! LOL
Everything except the Portulaca are fake flowers, but they are easy to take care of and when you're tired of them, you just get new ones! LOL Love it!

The lady of the house and the Portulaca at its new home.
Well this is the before and after of the area that was worked on.
Colors are all pretty and I added Mom's turtles to that side, but something was still not quite right. Now, looking at the pictures, I know what it needs! They are scrunched too close together, need to spread them out and I think that will look better. Then, I can put the turtles in the front, in front of the pedestal planter. That will look better!

They company has put in the bark dust in the back yard now. Looks nice.
One of Mom's neighbors took it upon himself to trim all but one container of the Widow's Tears, including all the wild ones, then he also moved back and straightened up the little border I put up years ago. (The lawn maintenance guy hit it with the lawnmower and I never fixed it up). He did a really good job of it, but it would have been better that he ask Mom FIRST if she wanted him to do any of it. I cut the rest of the Widow's Tears in the other container. Looks much nicer now.

Fake flowers out front.
July 25, 2019
Well, I went back to Mom's to fnish up with the backyard project. At least it is shaded a good deal of the morning, so it was comfy for working.
This is what I started with. What a mess of Raspberry canes, Ivy and some other vine. But, got it all cleaned out and ready for weed block, rubber mats and rubber mulch.
Got the mats down and the mulch. Then replaced the cedar border on the one side to hold the rubber mulch in.
The other half of the backyard, eventually, the property mgmt will put down regular mulch, I guess. I had leftover mats so I put them at the bottom of the stairs.
Mom's mini zucchini plant has produced two good size Zucchini's. You can see the biggest one hanging below the leaves. I think it's ready to pick.
After I cleaned up the mess I made, Mom bought us lunch at Applebee's. I got the chicken tenders this time. They have good chicken tenders and, of course, I brought 1/2 of it home! LMAO It was getting pretty warm out, so I took her home and gathered up my stuff and I headed home. Made 2 stops on the way home and got home around 3pm I think.
July 14, 2019
Went over to Mom's this morning to do some more work on the rubber backyard! LOL Turned out pretty good. Still needs some tweaking.
The cedar barriers will come down and come back to my house. I'll get something else for Mom's that will look nicer. The undone area, I think I will use my larger mats and some shredded rubber mulch. It's more like 3x4 feet if the wandering Raspberries get dug up or cut off.
Took the garbage out and then got cleaned up and changed clothes so we could go to lunch at McGrath's.
The birthday girl and I each got the 4 pc Halibut dinner. Yummy! Really large pieces of fish. I got the garden salad and Mom had the coleslaw. We each brought 1/2 of our meals home! LOL
All in all a good day. Got too hot out for me to try to do anymore work out back and the heat zaps Mom of her energy. So I took her back home, got my tools etc and came home myself.
July 8, 2019
Worked on the back yard at Mom's apartment today. I used the weed eater first but had to dig out the stems and the roots that I could of those weird weeds. Otherwise, the outdoor rubber mats won't lay down flat. Hauled 2 large paper bags of weeds from today and the other day to the dumpsters. Got the mats layed down for the area I was working on. I need to get some metal stakes, shredded rubber mulch and some more mats to finish up the area I am working on down to the back fence. Turned out pretty good though!
July 6, 2019
The front was looking a bit dejected with all that nasty Quack Grass growing in there. One of Mom's neighbors said he would pull it out for her but since he had not done so, I pulled it all out this morning. Moved a couple pots of flowers and it looks much nicer now!
Then, moved around to the back. This is the before and after pictures taken from the right side of the raspberry patch. Hmmmm... don't see much different from that vantage point! LOL Only difference is you can see a pile of cuttings in the "after" picture! LOL
But, I can assure you that lots of clipping and pulling went on back there!
This is the area to the left of the Raspberries, before and after:
The raspberries have gone a little crazy, but they are bearing fruit. There is also this odd weed, lots of it, growing back there, I've no idea what it is. It gets small yellow flowers that eventually morph into fuzzy looking balls and they were growing up to a foot or more tall.
The one flower that we didn't know if it was going to do anything, makes pretty violet colored flowers! And, Mom's mini zucchini bush plant is making mini-zukes!
June 1, 2019
Mary Rose got a trim, dead-headed and the red rose vines cut off today. The Viola's have really taken over in the pot! They like their home! LOL
The Petunia's are all looking great! They appreciated the drink of water they got yesterday. Out in front of them is a bowl of Pansy's that had been given up for dead, but since it sprouted flowers, I moved it back to the sun! The Widows Tears have filled in even more! The wild ones, outside of the pots, will get moved elsewhere after their season is over.
In the backyard, the bush Zucchini hsd grown quite a bit. Whatever flowers were planted in the other pot, have grown their stems but nothing that looks like a "bud" on any of them.
The Raspberry patch hasn't grown real tall, but it is healthier looking than last year now that it gets better sun and it's loaded down with berries.
May 23, 2019
Mom's hanging baskets are doing really well and filling out nicely!
The Widow's Tears are just fabulous! The dark purple are the wild ones, the lighter one are the domestic ones.
May 12, 2019
After we got some breakfast, I changed clothes and got all the hanging baskets actually hanging up! Tried to dig down to find some solid dirt to stick the hangers in, but it was all pretty soft, hopefully they will keep standing up! Got the new hose attached and working out front and watered everyone!
The Widows Tears are really blooming now! And, Mary Rose is popping out roses all over the place! All the stuff to the right of the Rose is empty containers, fake flowers, dead flowers, etc. Mom will have to decide what she wants to do with those.
It was hot on that side of her apartment where I was working. I felt like a wet dishrag! LOL
It was much nicer at the backyard! Still shade back there! Took the old front yard hose to replace the backyard nasty hose. Planted the Bush Zucchini in a big pot and moved it to a sunny place and, as well, moved some flowers in a large pot that haven't bloomed yet, to the sunny area. Watered the raspberry patch and all the other plants. Changed the batteries for her backyard camera, hauled the worst of the hoses to the garbage dumpster which was very full already and made sure her car radio was working now (it is). Changed back in to my nicer clothes and left there to run my errands, which I also accomplished.I didn't take any pictures in the back yard.
April 29, 2019
Flower beds are looking pretty good again. The wild Widow's tears are blooming with dark purple flowers. The domestic ones in the pots are a lighter purple. I put a fake flower in Mom's doggie planter so now it looks like mine! LOL The hanging Peturnia's are
seemingly happy in their pots! Mary Rose on the other side is looking quite nice and the yellow pansies bounced back to add more color.
October 28, 2018
While we were out and about today. Took a few pics for Mom who has been taking pictures of trees that are changing color and some cloud formations. So I will post the ones I took and when I get hers, I will add them.
Trees on Main Street in Milwaukie. Pretty!
September 1, 2018
David came over and got Mom's camera up in the back and then helped me get the storage bench put together.
A camera shy David! LOL
May 13, 2018
Happy Mother's Day!
Mary Rose just burst with roses the last few days! Looking good!
The volunteer Widow's Tears are still doing great, the one's we planted in pots are growing better now and producing some lighter purple flowers. The new bowl of Petunia's are from Debbie.
Found a healthy and sturdy looking Cherry Tomato for the front. Now, need to find a Pear Tomato! Lowe's didn't have any when we were there.
May 7, 2018
Got a pretty little hanging basket for an early Mom's Day gift. Not sure what the flowers are, but they are pretty.
The volunteer Widow's Tears that came up last year are doing fabulous! So pretty!
Mary Rose is growing like a weed and starting to bloom!

Haven't posted anything for quite awhile in here! Geez
But here is the first one for this year. I got Mom 3 Ranunculus flowers to welcome Spring! (The front row).
I think I took it on 03/20/18

The air conditioner is all set up and works great!
May 18, 2017
Debbie made a pedestal base for the new Air Conditioner/dehumidifier so it will be easier to drain it when necessary.

Mother's Day bouquet of Petunia's from Debbie.
May 8, 2017
A volunteer purple flower cropped up next to the pot of Widow's Tears! It's very pretty and it is a Spiderwort. Ugly name, pretty plant! LOL
Not sure of the exact dates of these pictures, only that they were in July.
Flutter flower, also known as a Bee Balm flower, purchased in memory of my son, David, who passed away July 5.
Pretty peacock and (fake)flowers (actually the little purple flowers are real, they are Widow's Tears).
Many viola's decided to join the garden... they are all volunteers! So many different varieties and that one pot of them grew quite tall! They lasted a long time, as well!
June 23, 2016
Such a beautiful and vibrant rainbow made an appearance today.
May 20, 2016
The volunteer Viola's are looking quite nice and standing tall. Amazing! They became so many that the fake flowers had to be taken out! LOL
The Widow's Tears are full of buds getting ready to bloom purple flowers. It's going to look magnificent if they bloom at the same time!
The Calibrochia seem to be quite happy in their corner. Beautiful!
